Morning transfer by local train eastwards from Irkutsk to small Transsib railroad station. Beginning of trek trip down to the lake by forest valley. The trek route goes on old military tank road, at present days it looks more like a path than actually aroad. Neighbouring forest is quite dark with lots of evergreen trees, including famous cedar tree – classic example of Taiga forest.
Lunch stop near forest stream. Usually it takes about 5 hours to hike through this valley and get to Baikal lake. Here we will build tent camp near beautiful bay of the lake. Enjoy sunset over the wast waters of Baikal. Dinner over campfire, overnight in tent. Total trek distance is about 17 km.
Day 2

After breakfast at the camp we'll have a short easy walk to the top of one of neighbouring hills where you'll observe Baikal from up high. then we'll collect camping equiment and continue trek trip along shoreline of Baikal lake. Today we will hike on historical Transsib railroad branch.
This part of Transsib was originally the connection between Western and Eastern branches of Russian railroads at Baikal lake region. For the transcendental building expences this part was named “Golden Buckle of Russian steel belt” There are lots of bridges, tunnels, walls and other constructions on this railroad branch, everything is hand-made from stones with big art. For the present moment this part of Transsib is not included into general railroad line and this fact turns it into a museum.
Lunch stop at shore of Baikal lake, visiting old russian village Angasolka and after trekking up short deep valley back to main Transsib railroad.
Evening transfer by local train back to Irkutsk.
